Are you a Unicorn? Maybe it would be helpful to understand how we define a Unicorn here in our Universe.
There are a number of traits shared by the Unicorns in our Universe, but perhaps chief among them is an attitude as well as acts of reciprocity.
It’s not difficult to find business people the world over who are so focused on profit, the bottom line, being competitive in their industry, etc. that they get overprotective of their product, processes (proprietary or not), customer base, and more, and as a result, they close themselves off from opportunities to collaborate with others.
Now there’s nothing wrong with being focused on those things or protecting what you have a legal and ethical right to protect.
But more often than not, if we open ourselves up to possibilities by connecting with others, we can likely find ways to help our own business by helping others.
We believe that in order to really be a Unicorn, you live in an abundance mindset. There’s plenty to go around for everyone willing to work for it. Your success doesn’t need to impede mine or vice versa. In fact, when we’re active in our community, one success encourages and helps to breed others. And the really fun thing about ideas is that they tend to grow and blossom when they’re shared.
If you’ve brought a product or service to market successfully, you have some raving fans. They’re one of the greatest assets you have, and you can leverage them! But it’s important to realize that they don’t exist in a vacuum. There are other products and services they love or would love if they knew about them. Likewise, there are other products and services that align with yours. Collaboration with them can lead to exponential growth more quickly and efficiently than if you slog it out on your own separately.
When we meet others with a spirit of curiosity, with our first concern after getting to know them as individuals being the inward question of how we can help them succeed, we open ourselves up to endless opportunities. For connection, collaboration, referrals, friendships, new ideas, and all sorts of transformation!
In the Unicorn Universe, we’re actively building a community comprised of reciprocal business owners. When we look for ways we can help each other, everyone in the community is lifted. Friendships and alliances form that can be enduring and profitable!
The manners in which we can support each other are only limited by our collective imagination, which is super powerful! Whether it’s a referral or introduction, a different perspective, a tool or resource, or a shared audience, we each have something to offer each other.
So even if you do run a privately held start-up already valued at over $1 billion, if you don’t operate on an attitude of reciprocity, you might not feel right at home here in our Universe.
Our people are our greatest asset, but we’re constructing a Universe organized purposely to propel everyone in it towards success. We’ve got tools and resources at the ready to assist those like-minded individuals wherever they are in their journey.
